RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Edgewood College volleyball team has been on hot streaks before, but never quite like this. The Eagles won their ninth straight match, including six consecutive 3-0 sweeps, in beating Concordia University Chicago and Augustana College (Ill.) on Saturday at Giesman Gymnasium.

In two matches, Edgewood College (16-4, 5-1 NAC) never let an opponent score more than 18 points in any set. The opening match against Concordia Chicago (4-10, 2-4 NAC) was a clinic in offensive precision. The Eagles didn't record an attack error until late in the second set, and ended up with just six for the entire match. Edgewood College hit .442, the second highest attack percentage in school history in a dominating 25-12, 25-15, 25-15 performance. Junior Jessica Martin led the way with 12 kills and hit .556. Senior Mallory Palmer had nine kills without an error and hit. 563 for the match. Jordan Winkler and Katie Wedvick had six kills apiece. Lindsey Swansby had 41 assists.

The Eagles continued their white hot hitting against Augustana College (Ill.) (12-4). Edgewood College had 40 kills against just nine errors, hitting .397 for the match in a 25-17, 25-15, 25-18 sweep of the Vikings. Palmer piled up a match-high 16 kills and a hitting percentage of .500. Martin added eight kills while Sarah Schuchhardt scored seven kills. Sam Himmelspach led the defense with 12 digs, while Swansby dished out 34 assists.

The Eagles nine-match winning streak eclipses the previous record, an eight-match winning streak in 2010. Edgewood College has a great opportunity to keep the momentum going with their next four matches, all against Northern Athletics Conference opponents, at home.
