FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The rest of the Northern Athletics Conference should probably take notice. The Edgewood College volleyball team is heating up as the season hits the midway point. The Eagles swept through Marian University 25-20, 25-17, 25-18 to extend their winning streak to six consecutive matches and improve their NAC record to 3-1.

In the first set, Edgewood College (12-4, 3-1 NAC) held a 16-11 lead until Marian reeled off six straight points to take the lead. The two teams traded the next six points until the Eagles put their stamp on the match. Mallory Palmer scored three kills and Sarah Schuchhardt one as Edgewood College scored the final six points of the set. The final five points were served by Sam Himmelspach.

The Eagles put set two away with a 7-2 run, highlighted by two kills from Jessica Martin and a solo block from Katie Wedvick. Sarah Schuchhardt made sure Marian University (10-8, 2-1 NAC) would have to dig out of an 0-2 hole by scoring kills on the final two points of the set. In the third set, Palmer served five straight points to give the Eagles an early 10-3 advantage, and the Eagles weren't severely threatened again.

Palmer recorded her fourth 20-kill match of the season, leading all players with 20 kills against just two errors for a .439 attach percentage. Martin added nine kills, while Schuchhardt posted eight kills. Lindsey Swansby reached 41 assists, marking her fifth consecutive match with at least 40 assists. Himmelspach led all Eagles with 13 digs.

Edgewood College will return home tomorrow night to complete their match from September 4 against the University of Dubuque which was suspended in the first set. The Eagles then face a NAC showdown with defending champion Dominican University on Friday.
