Warriors hand Eagles their first NAC loss

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Edgewood College volleyball played their first road Northern Athletics Conference match of the season, and didn't fare well. Wisconsin Lutheran College came out and took control early en route to a 3-0 sweep of the Eagles.

The Warriors (5-8, 1-2 NAC) set the tone of the match early with a 25-10 victory in the first set. Wisconsin Lutheran hit a blistering .412 in the first set, pounding out seven kills against zero errors. The Warriors pace slowed a bit in the second set, hitting only .226 in the 25-14 second set victory.

Edgewood College (8-7, 2-1 NAC) tried to make things interesting in the third set, but the Warrior offense was too much as Wisconsin Lutheran took the sweep with a 25-18 victory.

The Warriors hit .279 in the match, making only seven errors and recording 31 kills. Rachel Johnson led Wisconsin Lutheran with 10 kills while Erin Greenfield chipped in with six kills and 12 digs. Kayla Ridgeman recorded a team-high 13 digs in the win.

The Eagles hit -.071 in the match, making 31 errors against 24 kills. Jessica Martin led the team with 10 kills and Mallory Palmer registered six kills. Lindsey Swansby handed out a match high 17 assists and Sam Himmelspach recorded 15 digs in the loss.

Edgewood College will try and rebound from the loss on Friday night when they travel to Carroll University. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
