MADISON, Wis. - It would have taken very much for the Edgewood College women's tennis team to pull out a victory over Carthage College. Just a point here or a winner there and the Eagles would have had their 15th win of the season. However, Carthage survived four singles matches that went to supertiebreakers to claim a 5-4 victory over the Eagles. Edgewood College later lost 8-1 to UW-La Crosse at Rennebohm Park.

Amber Hemp and
Jessi Ditzler won their 20th match of the season with an 8-1 victory.
Brittany Storhoff and
Kristen Boone scored an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, the No. 2 through No. 5 matches all split their first two sets, setting up 10-point supertiebreakers.
Shae Beckwith pulled out her match at the No. 4 position with a 5-7, 6-4, 10-8 win over Amanda Bizub. The win marked Beckwith's 20th singles victory of the season. Storhoff rallied back for a 2-6, 7-5, 10-2 win over Kelsey Bowen at No. 5 singles. However, Hemp and Ditzler came up just short in their supertiebreakers and the Lady Reds claimed the dual match.
Edgewood College faced a tough challenge from the Central Region's ninth-ranked team in the late match. Hemp and Ditzler pulled another win at No. 2 doubles, beating Karie Williams and Julia Johnson 9-7 to improve their season record to 21-2.
Hannah Pincsak and Beckwith almost gave the Eagles a second doubles victory but lost in a tiebreaker 9-8 (7-5). Pincsak, Boone and Ditzler each won four games in singles play, but no Edgewood College players was able to win a set.
Edgewood College has 12 days off until a match at 30th-ranked Wheaton College (Ill.) on April 29. The Thunder have been Edgewood College's NCAA Tournament first round opponent in each of the last two seasons.
