FOND DU LAC, Wis. - What a difference a week makes. After suffering through a six-match losing streak last week, the Eagles find themselves sharing first place in the Northern Athletics Conference after the first two league matches. The Eagles ran their NAC record to 2-0 after blanking Marian University 3-0 on Thursday night at Sadoff Gymnasium.

Edgewood College (3-7, 2-0 NAC) opened the match with a 25-20 win in the first set, before blasting the Sabres 25-12 in the second. Marian University (3-7, 0-1 NAC) pushed the Eagles to the limit in the third set, before bowing out 28-26.

Sophomore middle hitter Brittany Bylsma, two nights after setting a career-high with 16 kills against Wisconsin Lutheran College, led the Eagles with eight kills. Aryn Wellnitz and Katie Wedvick both came off the bench to score five kills apiece, with Wedvick converting hers on just six attempts. Freshman setter Lindsey Swansby provided 24 assists for the Eagle hitters. Kristin Manske recorded three blocks and libero Kim Lueck had a team-high 18 digs.

The win marks the second consecutive year the Eagles have started conference play 2-0, however Edgewood College hasn't been 3-0 in league play since the 1998 season. The Eagles won't get that chance until September 28 when defending NAC champions Lakeland College invades the Todd Wehr Edgedome. In the meantime, the Eagles will play a triangular at Viterbo University on Monday and an invitational at UW-Platteville the following weekend.
