Eagles struggle offensively in loss to Muskies

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – The Eagles hopes of moving to 3-0 in conference for the first time since 1998 were crushed on Tuesday night at Lakeland College as the Muskies cruised past Edgewood College 3-0.

Edgewood College (7-11, 2-1 NAC) came out hot as they took an early 10-3 lead over the Muskies (11-4, 3-0 NAC). After Lakeland called a timeout, they responded by scoring 14 of the next 18 points to take a 17-14 lead over the Eagles. The Muskies would not look back as the finished the set with a 25-20 victory.

The Muskies would jump out to a lead in the second set, 12-7. The Eagles would fight back and get within a point at 12-11 but Lakeland then ran away with the set by the score or 25-14. The third set saw the Eagles take an 11-6 lead. The Muskies would come back to tie the score at 11, and the two teams would exchange points until they were tied at 21. After the tie, the Muskies ran off four straight points to take the set 25-21 and the match 3-0.

The Eagles were led by Mallory Palmer who tallied a team high nine kills while Ellie Peckham added 14 assists and Kim Lueck recorded 18 digs. For the Muskies, Senior Brittany Paulus recorded a match high 18 kills and junior Kristine Raeder tallied 32 assists.

The Eagles will next be in action on Friday when the travel to Milwaukee to face Alverno College. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
