Edgewood College takes split at Clarke College Triangular

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Edgewood College's volleyball team competed in the Clarke College Triangular on Saturday, picking up a four-set victory over Knox College before falling to the host Crusaders 3-0. The Eagles will enter Northern Athletics Conference play this week with a 2-6 record.

In the first match at the Kehl Center, the Eagles led two sets to one and then held on for a wild 31-29 victory in the fourth set. Mallory Palmer pounded out a season-high 19 kills to lead the team. Ellie Peckham racked up a career-high 34 assists to go with seven kills and a whopping .636 hitting percentage to defeat the Prairie Fire 26-24, 23-25, 25-18, 31-29. Abbi Schultz totaled 13 kills with only three errors as the Eagles hit .312 as a team.

Against Clarke College, the Eagles played close through the first part of each set, but the Crusaders eventually pulled out a 25-16, 25-16, 25-19 victory. Palmer recorded her eighth straight match with double digit kills to start her career with 11. Kim Lueck had 10 digs against the Crusaders, giving her 34 for the day.

The Eagles will next play at Wisconsin Lutheran College on Tuesday. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
