MADISON, Wis. – Coming off a thrilling five set victory over Concordia University Wisconsin, Edgewood College could not carry the momentum into the match with Dominican University. The Eagles struggled from the service line as they fell in three sets.

Edgewood College (13-14, 6-4 NAC) got off to a quick start as they took the early lead on a service error by Jacy Lawrence followed by a kill from senior Nina Brown. The Stars (16-12, 8-2 NAC) then climbed back and evened the score at 10 apiece, and with Kellie Voorhis serving they ran off five straight points to take a 15-10 lead. The streak was ended on a Dacy Swansby kill.  With Kristin Manske serving, the Eagles tied the set by rolling off five consecutive points of their own. Jessica Gallagher then served six straight points for the Stars, and they didn't look back as they took the first set 25-22.

The second set saw the Stars take a quick 5-2 lead behind three blocks. With neither team being able to run off more than three points at a time, the Stars found themselves up 18-16. After a service error by the Eagles, Dominican scored the last six points of the set behind the serving of Lawrence to take the set 25-16.

Just as the Stars did in the second set, they started the third set with a block to take the early lead. With neither team going up by more than two points, the Stars rolled off four consecutive points to take a 13-10 lead. As the Eagles found themselves down they would continue to fight back but a couple service errors in the last four Star points would ultimately do them in as they fell 25-22.

Mallory Palmer tallied a match high 10 kills while Sara Schneider added 13 assists for the Eagles. Lawrence led Dominican in kills with nine while Darcy Kammier and Kasey Kiepura added eight kills apiece. Kierupa also added four blocks, two solo, as the Stars tallied 9.5 blocks in the match.

Edgewood College will be in action again on Saturday when the host Concordia University Chicago at the Todd Wehr Edgedome. The match is scheduled to start at noon.
