PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The competition was stiff, but the Edgewood College volleyball team proved they can share the court with some of the region's top teams. The Eagles failed to win any of their four matches at the Nike/Impact Sports UW-Platteville Invitational, but they pushed three of their four opponents beyond three sets.

On Saturday morning, the Eagles faced 2007 NCAA Tournament qualifier UW-Platteville and pushed them all the way into a fifth set, before falling 25-17, 21-25, 25-23, 25-27, 15-12. Freshman Abbi Schultz had a break out game pounding out a career-best 18 kills with just three errors. Senior Kim Paskey had 11 kills on her way to being named to the all-tournament team. In their second match of the day, the Eagles took a set from WIAC preseason favorite and 15th-ranked UW-Oshkosh, dropping the decision 25-13, 25-16, 21-25, 25-17.

On Friday, the Eagles opened the tournament with a 25-17, 18-25, 25-17, 26-24 loss to Augustana College before suffering a 25-16, 25-9, 25-16 sweep at the hands of Monmouth College.

Edgewood College will look to get back to their winning ways when they face Beloit College and UW-Stevens Point in a triangular on Wednesday night and a trip to the North Park Invitational in Chicago on Friday and Saturday.
