RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Edgewood College volleyball team suffered its fourth straight loss on Saturday losing in straight sets to Concordia Chicago on the road.
The Eagles (5-19, 1-8 NAC) remained tough in each set by giving themselves a chance to win in keeping it close, but the well-experienced Cougar squad showed why they are a second-place team in the Northern Athletics Conference by winning 25-20, 25-19, 25-22.
Kristin Manske and Dacy Swansby each hit .308 with five kills and just one attack error on the day. Kim Paskey led the Eagles in kills with 10 against just two errors in hitting for .296. Paskey also led the team with six blocks on the day, four of which were solo. Aryn Wellnitz also added nine kills and four blocks.
As a team, Edgewood College hit .219 with just 11 errors compared to Concordia Chicago's (14-9, 6-2 NAC) .223 average and 12 errors for the match. Kim Lueck came into the match leading the conference in digs and she added a team-high 12.
The Eagles' loss on the road marks its 20th straight away from home dating back to last season. They'll have another chance to break the streak when they head to Appleton next weekend for the Lawrence University Triangular.
Edgewood College's next match will be at home inside the Todd Wehr Edgedome where they are 5-4 at home this season. They'll take on Wisconsin Lutheran College at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
