Leikness began the season by pitching seven scoreless innings over a span of two games while striking out six batters. Through six games at the Finlandia University Dome Tournament, the junior threw 11 innings and had finished with a team low 3.18 earned run average. Leikness' highlight was the first game of the season, only allowing one hit through four innings in a no decision against Finlandia.
