Ekkela made an impressive run in the singles draw of the Gustie Invite. The senior opened the tournament with an 8-4 win over Cornell College. She went on to defeat Norah Brusco of St. Olaf by another 8-4 margin before falling in the semifinal by an 8-4 score. Ekkela added a 2-0 mark in conference play earlier in the week, as the Eagles defeated Concordia Wisconsin 7-0. Ekkela earned a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles before taking home a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles.
