Justin Meyer was named Edgewood College's head coach prior to the start of the 2012-13 season. He became the sixth head coach in Edgewood College history.
Meyer has coached a total of 19 All-NACC honorees through the 2023-24 season: Nine on the First Team, six on the Second Team, three honorable mention, and one on the All-Freshman team.
In 2021-22, the Eagles returned to the postseason for the second year in a row. Meyer coached two First Team All-Conference players, Eli Hartjes and Jake Schroeckenthaler. Hartjes was also named CoSIDA Academic All-District and CoSIDA Academic All-American, the second Eagles Men's Basketball player to receive that accolade. The Eagles went 11-14, posting a 9-7 league record. Meyer guided the Eagles to a 1-1 finish in the conference tournament that featured a 92-86 home win over Rockford in the first round.Â
In 2020-21, Meyer guided the Eagles back to the postseason and coached three All-Conference players, including NACC North Player of the Year, Jake Negus. Negus also was named the WBCA Division III Private College Player of the Year and was a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American, the first Eagles Men's Basketball player to receive that accolade. The Eagles went 10-7 in the shortened season (COVID-19) and hosted a playoff game against Concordia University Wisconsin that featured a game-winning layup as time expired.Â
The Eagles reached the postseason in back-to-back seasons of 2017-18 and 2018-19 under Meyer's leadership. Edgewood College qualified as the No. 6 seed in the NACC Tournament in both 2017-18 and 2018-19, posting 10-10 league records over each campaign. Overall, Meyer has led Edgewood College to five postseason appearances as head coach, including four appearances in the NACC Final Four and a run to the NACC Championship game in 2013-14.

The Eagles qualified for the NACC tournament for the first time since 2014-15 in 2017-18 after winning their last three regular season games. Meyer's squad posted a 11-16, 10-10 NACC record and qualified as the No. 6 seed. The Eagles beat No. 3 MSOE in the first round, 52-47, on the road in a defensive battle that was capped with a game-winning shot with two seconds left. Edgewood College couldn't overcome top-seeded Aurora's hot first-half shooting and a five-minute scoring drought late in the game as they fell to the Spartans, 76-63, in the NACC semifinals.
Meyer's third season in 2014-15 saw some postseason success. After going 14-13 overall and 12-8 in the NACC, the Eagles earned a No. 4 seed and beat No. 5 Lakeland 64-59 at home in the NACC Quarterfinals. Top-ranked Aurora ended the Eagles' season in the semifinals by a score of 77-69.
Meyer's second season was one to remember, as he guided the team to the NACC Tournament Championship Game. The Eagles upset No. 2 MSOE 76-70 in the quarterfinals before taking down No. 3 Lakeland 77-76 in the semis. Meyer and the rest of the Eagles came up just short against No. 1 Marian in the championship game, falling 65-61. The Eagles finished the season with a 13-15 overall, 9-11 record in the NACC.
In his first year at the helm, Meyer's squad finished 7-18 overall and 6-10 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. Despite tying for the seventh best record in the conference, the Eagles missed the playoffs because the top four teams from each division made the postseason, a format which no longer exists.
Prior to being named head coach, Meyer had been on the Eagles' coaching staff for a total of 11 seasons serving at various times as an assistant coach, recruiting coordinator and head assistant coach, before being promoted to the position of associate head coach prior to the 2009-10 season. He was also working as an admissions counselor for Edgewood College.
Meyer has been on the staff of all three Edgewood College NCAA Tournament teams, including the 2011-12 squad that finished 23-7 and won the first NCAA Tournament game in school history. Out of high school, Meyer originally attended UW-Eau Claire, before a career-ending knee injury diverted him into a coaching position at Burlington Catholic Central. Meyer is a graduate of the Keller School of Business. He and his wife Katie currently reside in Janesville, Wisconsin with their son, Carson.Â
