Sawyer Smith is in his first year with the Edgewood College Track & Field coaching staff in 2022.  

Smith joins the Eagles after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at Valparaiso University for two years.  As an athlete, he competed at UW-Madison as a decathlete and received two top-three finishes at the Big Ten Outdoor Conference Meet and was an honorable mention All-American.  As a high school athlete for Lacrosse Central, Sawyer finished third in the long jump and the 400-meter dash as a senior.  He finished placed second in the high jump, third in the 400-meter dash, and helped his team win the 4x400-meter relay at the state championships as a junior.  

Smith is USATF Level 1 cerfitied.He graduated from UW-Madison with an undergraduates degree in Psychology and received his masters from Valparaiso University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
