Tim Alexander

Tim Alexander began coaching the Edgewood College men's soccer program in 1990 and the women's program in 1993. On September 18, 2013, Alexander became just the 17th coach in NCAA history to reach 500 wins. Alexander has guided the women to over 300 victories and amassed 243 while head coach of the men's program from 1990-2014.

In 26 seasons as the women's head coach, Alexander has a career record of 331-160-29 (.664) and 199-45-8 (.806) in conference play while coaching two Honorable Mention All-Americans, 19 NSCAA All-Region, seven Conference Player of the Years, eight All-Conference Freshman of the Year, and 90 First Team All-Conference selections through the 2017 season. He is also a 10-time conference Coach of the Year honoree.

Alexander has guided the Eagles to 10 regular season and seven conference tournament titles between the Lake Michigan and Northern Athletics conferences, with the latest regular season title in 2013 and tournament title in 2008. His teams have only finished outside of the top-3 in the conference regular season standings three times in his 25 years.

Alexander took the Eagles to the NCAA tournament in 2008 and three straight years from 1999-2001.

In 2016, the Eagles won 12 or more games for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons and finished runner-up in the NACC with a record of 13-4-2, 8-2 NACC. The Eagles lost on penalty kicks after a tie with No. 3 seed Dominican in their 21st conference semifinals appearance in 24 years under Coach Alexander. Eight Eagles were named to the All-NACC team, including a school record five First Team All-NACC selections.

The 2013 campaign was one of the most memorable as both the men's and women's soccer teams reached the NACC Tournament Championship. The women won their first regular season title since 2005 and earned the No. 1 seed while the men made a historic run at the No. 6 seed. The men became the first NACC team to reach the championship as the No. 6 seed. Both teams put together remarkable seasons, but fell in the tournament championship.

The 2012 season was a noteworthy campaign as Alexander led both the men's and women's soccer teams to the NAC Tournament. The men fell in the first round to No. 4 MSOE while the women advanced to the championship before losing to Aurora 2-0. Alexander coached nine different players who earned all-conference honors including Elaine Gerry who was named 2012 Capital One Academic All-American of the Year, the first in Edgewood College's history.

Prior to his successful 2012 campaign, Alexander joined a select group of individuals in March of 2012 as he was recognized for his outstanding coaching career upon being inducted into the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Alexander made history in 2010, becoming the fifth coach in NCAA history (all divisions) to own 200 men’s and 200 women’s wins. Alexander won his 200th men’s game early in the season with a 3-1 win at Illinois College. In 2010, the women’ compiled an overall record of 15-5-1 and placed third in the NAC with a record of 9-3. The Eagles fell at second-seeded Dominican University in overtime of a conference tournament semifinal.

In 2008, the women's team won their first Northern Athletics Conference Tournament title and made a trip to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2001, when they won the Lake Michigan Conference Tournament title. The men's team finished fifth in the conference in 2008 and saw their season end in the conference tournament semi-finals against Dominican University.

Alexander is the only soccer coach to win Lake Michigan Coach of the Year honors, as voted on by his peers, in the same year in both the men’s and women’s soccer ranks.  He has done so three times (1999, 1996, and 1994). In addition, Alexander was honored on the men's side in 1998 and four times on the women's side (1997, 1998, 2001 and 2004), giving him a total of 11 LMC Coach of the Year awards.

He has won two LMC regular season titles and three post-season championships with the men. His last title propelled the Eagles into the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history.

Tim is a United States Soccer Federation A-licensed coach and a veteran counselor of numerous soccer camps and the Wisconsin Olympic Development team. From 2001-05, Alexander was the Director of Coaching for the YAHARA Soccer Club in Madison, Wis.

Before coming to the Eagles, Alexander built an impressive 153-31-6 record at Green Bay Premontre High School. His Premontre teams won nine FVCC championships and all eleven of his teams advanced to the WISAA playoffs. Under Alexander's direction, Premontre finished state runner-up five times.

Alexander was an accomplished player in his own right. In 1974, he earned the first of two First Team National Junior College All-American awards before transferring to UW-Green Bay. At UW-Green Bay he became a two-time All-Midwest player as a defender.  He helped the Phoenix reach the final four of the NCAA II soccer tournament in 1977.

Alexander has also coached three seasons of men’s tennis and five as skipper of the Eagles’ baseball team.
