Tim Alexander began coaching women’s soccer at Edgewood College in 1993, which was also the first year that the program was recognized as a varsity intercollegiate sport at the college. Since that time, Alexander has compiled an impressive 202-89-13 (.687) overall record and an even more impressive 110-10-4 (.903) mark in the Lake Michigan Conference, including six undefeated seasons in league play.

In 1998, the Eagles finished the season with a 20-2 overall record and are recognized as one of the greatest teams in the history of NCAA Division III. Alexander’s teams have won a total of nine LMC regular season championships, including a stretch of eight titles in a row from 1994 to 2001, and five LMC tournament championships. Edgewood College earned a trip to the NCAA Division III women’s soccer championships for the first time in school history in 1999.

Also the head coach of the Edgewood College men’s soccer program since 1990, Alexander’s men’s and women’s teams have combined to win an amazing 377 games. He is the only coach in the LMC to win Coach of the Year honors in the same year on both the men’s and women’s side and has done so three times – 1994, 1996, and 1999.

In addition, Alexander garnered LMC men’s coach of the year in 1998. In the women’s ranks, he received the honor in 1997, 1998, 2001, 2004, and 2005 giving Alexander an unprecedented 12 LMC Coach of the Year awards during his tenure at Edgewood College.

Since his arrival at Edgewood Alexander has recruited and coached an amazing total of 121 all-conference performers, including nine conference Players of the Year and six Rookies of the Year.

Coach Alexander is a United States Federation A-licensed coach and veteran counselor of numerous soccer camps, as well as the Wisconsin Olympic Development team. From 2001-05 he was also the Director of Coaching for the YAHARA Soccer Club in Madison.

Before arriving at Edgewood College, Alexander built an impressive 153-31-6 record as the head coach at Green Bay Premontre High School. His Premontre teams won nine FVCC championships and 11 of his teams advanced to the WISAA state playoffs. Under Alexander’s direction, Premontre finished state runners-up five times.

Alexander was an accomplished player in his own right. In 1974 he earned the first of two National Junior College All-America awards before he transferred to UW-Green Bay. At UWGB Alexander became a two-time All-Midwest defender and helped the Phoenix reach the Final Four of the NCAA Division II tournament in 1977.

Besides coaching men’s and women’s soccer, Alexander is also the Associate Athletic Director at Edgewood College. He has also coached three seasons of men’s tennis and five as the skipper of the Eagles baseball team. 

Alexander has a Bachelor of Science degree in Regional Analysis from UW-Green Bay.

He and his wife Terri live in Madison and are parents of twin boys, Josh and Jeremy, who currently attend Edgewood College.
