Hocking began coaching at Edgewood College in August 2013. Prior to working with the Eagles, Hocking attended the University of Dubuque where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Health Wellness & Recreation and a minor in coaching. In college, Hocking played three years of football and baseball for Dubuque after spending a year at Iowa Wesleyan.

From 2011-13, Hocking was the head varsity basketball coach at Southwestern High School in Hazel Green, Wisconsin. He also currently coaches with the Wisconsin Hoops Select Girls AAU program and Midwest Elite Basketball, an offseason player development camp. From 2010-13, Hocking spent time coaching for the Iowa Team Fury, an AAU basketball program in Dubuque, Iowa. 

Hocking graduated from Galena High School in 2009 as an all-conference and all-area player in basketball, football, baseball, and track.

Hocking will be working toward a Master of Arts in Education while at Edgewood College.
