Mike Metcalf joined the Edgewood College coaching staff prior to the 2009 season. Before coaching at Edgewood College, Metcalf served as an assistant coach at Memorial high School for five years. He has coached softball at various levels from T-ball to High School for the past 20 years. He has played competitive softball of both slow pitch and fast pitch for the past 50+ years while having also played baseball for a number of years before giving it up for softball.

He is one of the founders of the softball program for West Madison Little League and has served the past 15 years as a board member for the league. He is also on the board for the Wisconsin Senior Games and has been responsible for the softball competition over the past five years. Metcalf is a retired Police Chief after serving 33 years with the state of Wisconsin and is currently Director of Security for Edgewood College. He and his wife Jan have two kids.
