Dan Gage joins the Edgewood College soccer program bringing 20+ years of coaching experience to the program. Dan began coaching goalkeepers back in 1997 while a sophomore in high school as an assistant coach at UW-Parkside soccer camps. More recently, Dan has been coaching goalkeepers in the Madison area for the last 8+ years. He has been a goalkeeper coach with the Madison 56ers, Madison Futsal FORGE, Verona Area High School boys, Mount Horeb High School boys, and the Waunakee High School girls program.Â
Dan believes that building relationships to create an environment where goalkeepers are willing to push to the point of making mistakes is one of the most important things a coach can do. He strives to create a training environment that mimics game movements and game situations. Alongside that, he believes it is important to communicate the "why" with his goalkeepers and to provide time to question and to make decisions based off each goalkeepers strengths and/or weaknesses.Â
Dan will be working with goalkeepers from both the men's and women's soccer programs.Â
