Bubba Schultz was hired in January of 2018 as the Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach at Edgewood College. Since his hiring, Schultz has continued the winning ways for the Eagles, which includes guiding the Women's Team to three-straight Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships.Â
Schultz has yet to lose a conference regular season match on the Women's side as head coach, leading the Eagles to a 27-0 NACC regular season record of his first three seasons. In 2018-19, the Eagles captured the NACC Tournament Title as well. The 2020 NACC Tournament was canceled due to COVID-19 and the Eagles posted a runner-up finish at the 2021 NACC Tournament. Schultz has been named the NACC Coach of the Year in each of his three seasons with the Women's program after the back-to-back conference championships.Â

Schultz has also coached several All-NACC honorees during his time, including coaching both the NACC Player of the Year and the NACC Freshman of the Year during the 2020-21 season. Sydney Verbauwhede was named the Player of the Year, while Cecile Fuchs secured the Eagles second-straight Freshman of the Year honoree. Ally Verbauwhede was named the Freshman of the Year in 2019-20. Schultz also coached Evan Stone on the men's side to NACC Player of the Year recognition during his first season with the program.Â
In Schult'z first full season with the Women's program, he guided the team to a school-record 21 wins. The Eagles qualified for the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament after rolling to a NACC Tournament Championship.
Schultz took over prior to the spring season in 2018 and guided the Men's program to a 6-2 conference record in his first year, followed by a 6-3 league record during his first full season with the program (2018-19). The Eagles spring season was canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19 and Edgewood College did not roster a men's program during the 2020-21 academic year.Â
Since taking over the tennis programs, Schultz has seen 15 players earn All-NACC singles honors and eight pairings earn All-NACC doubles honors. In each of his first two seasons with the Women's team, Edgewood College had four All-NACC singles players and two All-NACC doubles teams. The Eagles had three more singles selections in 2020-21 and once again had two doubles teams honored. His two seasons with the men's program thus far has each seen two All-NACC singles honorees and one doubles team in each campaign.Â

Schultz comes back to Edgewood College after spending the last seven years as a teaching professional at Hitters Tennis Club in Middleton. For the past two years, Schultz has also been a coordinator for the USTA Junior Team Tennis program running local tennis leagues and events. From 2007-11 Schultz was the assistant coach, and then spent one year as the head coach of the Middleton High School team, leading the Cardinals to a Big Eight Conference championship and a WIAA State Tournament berth.
Schultz, a 2006 graduate of Beloit College, is no stranger to the Edgewood College family. He spent five seasons from 2008-12 as an assistant coach for the Eagles’ men’s soccer program under then-head coach Tim Alexander. He also coached soccer in the Middleton High School program and with the Madison 56ers club team.
Schultz lives in Madison with his wife Alyssa and daughters Emilia and Isabella.
