Biography

Career Statistics (through 2018 season)

2018: Started 34 of his 36 appearances, mainly as the designated hitter... Named NACC First-Team All-Conference as the DH... Led team with a .360/.375/.475 line with one home run, a team-high 13 doubles, a team-high 26 RBIs, and 24 runs scored... Registered just the 10th 5-hit game in school history against NACC Champion Concordia Chicago... Finished sixth in the NACC with a .360 batting average, but led conference during early part of season... Hit his first career home run (a 2-run shot) during spring break trip against Newbury College... Tied a season-high with four RBIs against Lakeland and in a 3-for-3 performance in game two against Dominican... Paced team with a 10-game hitting streak, 14 multi-hit games, and seven multi- RBI games... Hit safely in seven of his final eight games... NACC Scholar-Athlete.

2017: Started eight of his 15 appearances... Hit .188/.278/.219 with three runs, six hits, one double, and four RBI in 32 at-bats... Recorded two hits with one run and one RBI in win vs. Maranatha Baptist on April 13... Hit his only double to go with one RBI in defeat to Northland on March 24... Added one hit and one RBI in loss at UW-Oshkosh on May 3.

2016: Appeared in 11 games... Had three hits in eight at-bats... Earned a pinch hit in each of his first three at-bats on the season... Had pinch hit RBI singles against Pitt-Bradford on March 15 and against Concordia-Moorhead on March 26.

2015: Made five starts and appeared in 14 games as a reserve catcher in his first season for the Eagles...  Recorded his first career hit and first career RBI with a single against Maranatha Baptist on April 16... Went 2-for-3 with a double and one runner caught stealing against Illinois Tech on April 22... Went 5-for-12 at the plate over his last six appearances.

High School: Led team to a conference and regional championship during senior season.... Two-time first team all-conference, once as a catcher and once as a utility player... Led conference in RBI (34) and had a career-high in hits (42) as a senior... Led conference in strikeouts as a pitcher during junior season and led team in RBI.

Personal: Parents are Richard and Lisa Cheaney... Also played football and tennis in high school... Made highest honor roll every semester... Graduated in top 15% of class... Participated in Student Council and Relay for Life... Brother Matt played soccer at UW-Oshkosh... Cousins Ben played football at the University of Chicago and Michale plays soccer at New York University... Major is Math.
