Matt Eichhorn

Matt Eichhorn is in his second year as a member of the Edgewood College Baseball coaching staff. In addition to serving as the outfield and hitting instructor for the Eagles, Coach Eichhorn will act as the program’s recruiting coordinator.

 

In Eichhorn’s first season as hitting instructor, the Eagles hit .318 with an on-base percentage of .404, both the highest outputs over the past four seasons. The Eagles finished the season with 273 runs scored, recorded 36 total sacrifices and stole 79 bases.

 

Eichhorn, a native of Tinley Park, Illinois, played his college ball at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. He was a four-year starter in centerfield and was named captain of the team, both his junior and senior years. He was a three-time all-conference selection and still holds several offensive records for the Big Blue. Eichhorn graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.

 

From 2003-2005, Eichhorn was hired as an assistant varsity and head summer league coach at Victor J. Andrew High School.  He knew the program well, having helped the Thunderbolts reach the Illinois State Finals in ’97-’98-’99 as an outfielder. He was also a private hitting/fielding instructor and fall league head coach at the C.F. Swingtown Baseball Academy in Orland Park, Illinois.

 

In 2005, Eichhorn was named graduate assistant at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was the outfield/hitting instructor, First base coach and recruiting coordinator for the Vikings. While at Augustana, he earned his Master of Arts in Teaching.

Coach Eichhorn is currently engaged to Edgewood College softball assistant coach Ashley Coningsby and resides in Verona, Wisconsin.
