Assistant coach Dan Pavlue returns to Edgewood College in 2018 for his fourth season with Eagle baseball after previously serving as an assistant coach and the recruiting coordinator for the 2011-13 seasons. For the 2018 season, Coach Pavlue will work with the outfielders, baserunners and hitters, as well as assisting with recruiting and scouting.
Pavlue spent 2013-17 as the head baseball coach and a physical education & social studies teacher at North Port High School in North Port, Florida. At NPHS, Pavlue’s teams set nine school records, placed 13 players on the All-Region team, earned the school’s first regional tournament appearance in over a decade, and increased the team cumulative GPA each of his four seasons. Pavlue’s teams also dedicated over 1,000 hours of community service in communities throughout southwest Florida each season.
Prior to joining the Eagles’ coaching staff in 2011, Pavlue served as a volunteer assistant coach at Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minn., where he worked with the outfielders, assisted with camps and recruiting, and taught introductory health science courses during the fall of 2010.
Pavlue spent the 2007-10 seasons as the head student assistant for the University of Minnesota baseball team. During Pavlue’s three years with Minnesota, the team compiled a 92-84 record, finishing second in the Big Ten in 2009 and first in 2010, including the Big Ten Conference regular season and tournament championships. During his time with Minnesota, Pavlue worked closely with over 15 professional draft picks. Pavlue graduated from the University of Minnesota in July of 2010 with a B.S. in Sport Management.
During the summers of 2009-12, Pavlue served as a head coach for both the Hudson, Wis. and Madison Impact American Legion baseball teams in which he compiled a 77-28 overall record. In the summer of 2009, Pavlue took over a Hudson, Wis. legion team which won just three games the previous year and led them to 11 wins in 2009 and 13 wins in 2010. In the summer of 2011, Pavlue took over the Madison Impact American Legion baseball program and led them to 15 wins and a top 10 ranking in the Wisconsin American Legion Baseball AAA poll. In 2012, Pavlue led an offensively dominant Impact squad which averaged nearly 10 runs per game and hit .393 as a team to a 38-10 record and the Wisconsin State American Legion Baseball AAA State Championship, the first for a Madison team since 1968.
Pavlue, a native of Waunakee, Wis., graduated from Waunakee High School in 2007 where he was a three-year letter winner in football and baseball. Pavlue earned first-team All-Badger North Conference honors and Honorable Mention All-District honors as a team captain and outfielder.
Pavlue currently resides in Waunakee with his wife, Jessica. He received a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Athletic Administration from Edgewood College in January of 2012.
