2021: NACC Scholar-Athlete…Competed at one indoor meet and five outdoor meets…Captured an individual title in the 10,000-meter run at the NACC Outdoor Championships (May 7-8) with a PR time of 41:23.47…Added a sixth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run at the NACC Outdoor Championships…Only indoor race was a third-place finish in the 3,000-meter run at the Aurora Grand Prix (February 27)…Finished fourth in the 5,000-meter run at the Warhawk Invitational (April 17).
2020: Competed at five meets during indoor season…Outdoor season was canceled due to COVID-19…Won the 5,000-meter run at the NACC Indoor Championships (February 29) with a PR time of 19:00.62…Added a third-place finish in the 3,000-meter run at the NACC Championships…Posted a PR of 10:52.08 in the 3,000 at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge (February 22)…Finished second in the mile at the UW-Platteville Select (February 1).
2019: Competed at 10 meets primarily in distance events…NACC Scholar-Athlete...Had an outstanding NACC Outdoor Championships (May 3-4) by placing second in the 5,000 and fourth in the 1,500…Ranks sixth on the outdoor Eagles honor roll in the 1,500-meter run and fifth in the 5,000…During indoor season placed second in the 3,000-meter run at the NACC Indoor Championships (February 23)…Was also on the third-place DMR team at NACC Indoor meet…Posted four PRs throughout the year, in the mile (5:36.19) and 3,000 (10:53.81) in the indoor season and in the 5,000 (19:04.65) and 1,500 (5:01.84) during outdoor season.
2018: Competed in seven meets, mainly at middle distance... NACC Scholar-Athlete...Placed seventh at the NACC Outdoor Championships in the 5k (20:45)... Part of a pair of Top-5 performances in the 4x400m relay at the UW-Whitewater Alternative meet (4:46.48) and the Univ. of Dubuque Invitational (4:33.58)... Some personal bests include: 1500m (5:21.41), 5000m (20:28.71)... NACC Scholar-Athlete.
High School: Ran at Sun Prairie high school under head coach Matthew Roe and won the Division I State team title as a senior... Also won sectionals, the Big 8 Conference, and finished as the top ranked DI girls team in the state... Earned Second Team All-Conference, Academic All-Conference... Set a personal 5k best of 19:49 and earned the Most Improved, Legacy, and Keep the Dream Alive team awards, was also a team co-captain, and a member of the Sun Prairie All-Time team... Won the Big 8 Conference as a junior and had a season best time of 21:05.
Personal: Daughter of Darin and Lois Berning... Majoring in nursing... Earned a band and academic letter... Was also in flute choir, band, HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America), and the National Honor Society... Volunteered at the Sun Prairie Food Pantry, Sunshine Supper, Love Begins Here: a church camp, Second Harvest Food Bank, and Just for Me Daycare in Sun Prairie... Has traveled to France, likes helping others, and enjoys working with kids.
