VERONA, Wis. – On a rainy Saturday afternoon, the Edgewood University men's soccer team claimed a 2-1 win over Aurora University in conference play. The Eagles attack continued to pressure the Spartans defense after Aurora managed to tie the contest in the 44th minute. An own goal in the second half gave the Eagles a 2-1 advantage. The Eagles remain undefeated in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Edgewood University (2-3-2, 2-0-0 NACC) attack remained patient and consistent on Saturday. Despite only taking nine shots, the Eagles created strong opportunities in front of the net.

- Connor Gage struck first in the conference contest, scoring via a header in the 26th minute that was a result of a corner kick. Ryan Hardy placed the ball perfectly in front of Gage, following a short corner kick from Isaiah Stiebel.

- The Eagles held Aurora (4-2-1, 1-1-0) off the scoreboard until the 44th minute, when Carlos Viayra netted a perfect pass from Diego Lugo. The Eagles and Spartans went into halftime with a 1-1 tie.

- Edgewood University continued to pressure the Spartans defense in the opening of the second half. In the 77th minute, a strong pass from Stiebel found the foot of a Spartan defender to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead.

- Aurora managed 10 shots in the second half, including three on target, all saved by Eagle goalkeeper Ezra Wallace.

- In the end, Aurora outshot Edgewood University 16-9 on the afternoon.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Gage netted the Eagles first goal on Saturday.

- Hardy and Stiebel each recorded an assist.

- Wallace posted four saves in net for the Eagles.

THE OPPOSITION
- Carlos Viayra led the Spartans attack with a goal and four total shots.

- Diego Lugo dished out the assist on the Aurora goal.

- Brett Miller recorded two saves in net for the Spartans.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- For the third-straight season the Eagles open their NACC campaign with a 2-0-0 record.
