Eagles fall at Spartans in NACC Tournament Quarterfinal

MONTGOMERY, Ill. – The Edgewood University men's lacrosse team appeared in the NACC Tournament for the first time under head coach Mitch Wilkins on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles faced the Aurora University Spartans in the NACC Tournament Quarterfinal. The top seeded Spartans took home a 24-3 win on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- No. 1 seed Aurora University (13-3) scored a whopping 11 goals in the first quarter on Saturday afternoon. Edgewood University (4-12) finally scored with 4:22 on the clock in the first quarter.

- Aurora tacked on seven more runs in the second quarter and led 18-2 at halftime. Thomas, assisted by James Borgardt scored the second Eagle goal six minutes into the quarter.

- The Eagles struggled to score in the second half, with the third and final goal coming with 1:30 left in the contest. Wyatt Heabel converted a pass from Borgardt for the final goal of the game.

- The Spartans outshot the Eagles 55-16 on Saturday afternoon.

- Aurora won 26 faceoffs, while Edgewood University won just five.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Thomas led the Eagles attack with two goals. He added five ground balls.

- Borgardt dished out two assists.

- Bennett Closset caused a team-high three turnovers.

- Logan Searles recorded eight saves in net for the Eagles.

THE OPPOSITION
- Asher Deput and Zach Fuzy split time in net for the Spartans. Fuzy recorded seven saves across 44 minutes in cage.

- 15 different Spartans scored in the conference tournament contest. Dylan Kranzush and Nolan Hartman scored three times and dished out two assists. Luke Dupont scored three times.

- Tyler Foerstel dished out a game-high four assists.

- Hunter Walz caused three turnovers and picked up four ground balls.

- Ian Funk, Elie Etzler, Tanner Spoklie, and Stanley Webert combined for the Spartans 25 faceoff wins. Spoklie went 7-for-7 at the faceoff.
