Eagles fall to Pointers, sink Vikings

NEENAH, Wis. – Men's Tennis hit the road for a nonconference doubleheader Sunday. They took on the UW-Stevens Point Pointers and Lawrence Vikings. The Eagles (5-7) fell to the Pointers (7-8) 6-1, before bouncing back with a 6-1 rout against the Vikings (4-7).
 
MATCH ONE: UW-STEVENS POINT 6, EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 1
- The Pointers controlled doubles. Andrew Hoffmann/Ryder Broadbridge fell 7-6, while Jon Olafsson/Justin Hutchcroft conceded a 6-4 final. Marek Woytasik/Ryan Casey dropped a 6-2 result.
 
- Broadbridge had the bright spot of the match in no. 1 singles, winning 6-2, 7-5. Olafsson conceded a hard-fought 7-6, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4) battle in the second slot.
 
- Hutchcroft lost 6-1, 6-4 in the third slot, before Woytasik was knocked down 6-0, 6-0 in the fourth slot.
 
- Hoffmann lost 6-2, 6-1 in no. 5 singles while Casey was taken down 6-1, 6-2 in sixth billing.
 
MATCH TWO EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 6, LAWRENCE 1
- The Eagles soared off the starting line in doubles. Broadbridge/Hoffmann claimed a 6-1 result in top billing. Hutchcroft/Woytasik and Casey/William Faley won 6-3 in no. 2 and 3 doubles respectively.
 
- Broadbridge continued his strong day with a 6-3, 6-4 showing in top singles. Olafsson rolled with a 6-1, 6-3 result in no. 2 singles.
 
- Hutchcroft fell to a comeback 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (11-9) in the third slot. Woytasik got Edgewood University on track with a 6-3, 6-4 result in no. 4 singles.
 
- Hoffmann and Casey put a bow on the impressive performance in fifth and sixth singles respectively. Hoffmann won 6-1, 6-4, while Casey claimed a 6-0, 6-4 final.
   
UP NEXT
The Eagles will migrate south for Spring Break starting on Monday, March 16. They'll battle with Illinois Wesleyan and Coe in Orlando, Fla. First serve will be announced at a later date.
