Second Half Surge Lifts Eagles past Falcons

VERONA, Wis. – A pair of second half goals from Neo Najjar and Arjun Kaushik lifted Edgewood University to a 3-2 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles claimed their second-straight victory and fourth conference win on Saturday. 

HOW IT HAPPENED                 
- Concordia University Wisconsin (1-8-1, 0-5-0 NACC) scored first on Saturday, as Nevin Volarath found the back of the net in the fifth minute, assisted by Jahsiah Acosta and Carson Kelley.

- Ryan Hardy posted the equalizer Edgewood University (4-4-2, 4-1-0 NACC) just three minutes later, finding the bottom right corner of the net off a pass from Neo Najjar.

- The Falcons struck again in the 30th minute, as Matthew Payne gave Concordia Wisconsin a 2-1 lead at halftime.

- Edgewood University outshot the Falcons 10-4 going into halftime.

- Neo Najjar netted his first goal in an Eagle uniform in the 66th minute to tie the contest at two goals apiece. Najjar made a perfect slide to break up a Falcon defender before floating the ball over the Falcons goalkeeper and into the top left of the net.

- The Eagles attack found a new gear in the second half, as Arjun Kaushik netted the game winner in the 74th minute. Kaushik's goal was assisted by Connor Gage and Beckham Murrow.

- On the afternoon the Eagles outshot the Falcons 21-13.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Najjar led the Eagles attack with one goal and one assist.

- Hardy and Kaushik both scored in the conference contest.

- Murrow and Gage added assists on Saturday.

- Ezra Wallace and Griffin Meisterheim split time in net for the Eagles. Wallace posted one save in the first half, while Meisterheim recorded six saves through the final 45 minutes.

THE OPPOSITION
- Matthew Payne and Nevin Volarath each scored for the Falcons on Saturday.

- Jahsiah Acosta and Carson Kelley dished out assists.

- Logan Montgomery recorded five saves in net for the Falcons.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood University have now won three-straight contests against the Falcons.

- Connor Gage now owns 88 career points, which is fifth best in the Eagles record books.
