Gage makes history, Eagles shutout Cougars

VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood University men's soccer team claimed their third-straight win with a 4-0 shutout of Concordia University Chicago on Wednesday. Four different Eagles scored as Connor Gage set the program record for game-winning goals and became just the second Eagle in program history to reach 100 career points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Just 10 minutes into the contest, Connor Gage made history with the Eagles opening goal. Gage's goal, assisted by Riley Kann gave him 15 game-winning goals and 100 career points.

- Gage's goal hung around as the sole goal of the contest until the 43rd minute. A free kick from outside the box created chaos. Ryan Hardy put a header off the cross bar which bounced to the feet of Koshis Gurung who found the back of the net for the first time as an Eagle.

- Edgewood University (8-5-3, 8-1-1 NACC) led Concordia Chicago (2-10-2, 1-8-1 NACC) 2-0 going into halftime. The Eagles outshot the Cougars 17-1 in the opening 45 minutes.

- Riley Kann wasted little time out of the break, tallying his third goal of the season in the 48th minute. Kann's goal assisted by Isaiah Stiebel.

- Stiebel netted the Eagles fourth and final goal in the 75th minute, after a pass from Kann put Stiebel in a one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Stiebel found his way past the Cougars final line of defense and comfortably scored his fourth goal of the season.

- In the end, the Eagles outshot the Cougars 36-7 on the evening.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Kann led the Eagles attack with two assists and a goal.

- Ezra Wallace posted four saves in the shutout victory.

- Stiebel recorded a team-high six shots.

THE OPPOSITION
- Adrian Adame recorded two shots for the Cougars.

- Nethan Gudiel posted seven saves in net.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Gage now owns 100 points in his career. The junior is just the second in program history to reach the century mark, led only by Garrett Lee's 103 points from 2015-18.

- Gage's goal in the 10th minute makes him the program's all-time leader in game-winning goals. The junior eclipses the 14 game-winning goals made by Mark Losby from 2001-04.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood University will travel to Benedictine University on Saturday. Action is set for 3:30 p.m. from Lisle, Ill.
