Eagles knock out Spartans, fall to Raiders in NACC Tournament Championship

GLENDALE, Wis. – Baseball finished NACC Tournament action Saturday. They took on the Aurora Spartans for the right to advance to the NACC Tournament Championship, before battling with the MSOE Raiders. The Eagles (23-22) took down the Spartans (24-20) 8-6, before falling to the NACC Champion Raiders (26-16) 10-0 (7 innings).

GAME ONE: EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 8, AURORA 6
- Jacob Carney kicked off the scoring with an RBI double to left center in the first inning. Aurora scored two in the second with an RBI single to left field, followed by an RBI triple and RBI groundout in the third.

- Brevin Brisack grounded out to plate one in the third, before Daniel Bentivegna helped cut the Spartan lead to 4-3 with an RBI single to center field.

- The Eagles punished Aurora for mistakes in the fifth. A drop by the left fielder helped plate a run and keep the inning going. Hayden Hellenbrand and Carney both singled to the outfield, each tallying four unearned runs as Edgewood College soared ahead.

- While a sacrifice fly to center field tacked on a run for the Spartans, Cole Pulliam shined brilliantly. In 6.2 innings of relief, he allowed no earned runs, only five hits, and struck out a batter as he claimed victory.

- Carney hit 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a pair of doubles. Four other Eagles had two hits in the victory.

GAME TWO: MSOE 10, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 0 (SEVEN INNINGS)
- Zach Brzezinski was the story of game two. He held the Eagles to one hit and three total base runners. He struck out four in seven innings pitched, only needing 72 pitches to get the complete game shutout.

- While the Raiders hit a two-run home run in the first, Mark Tor settled in for four innings of work, allowing no further runs and striking out a pair.

- Kalitowski and Le each recorded three hits in the championship victory for MSOE, with Le tallying the home run.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Carney crossed 100 career hits as he helped push the Eagles to the NACC Tournament Championship.

- Edgewood College has now won back-to-back games against Aurora.

- Aiden Shumaker, Terry Tolliver Jr., and Brisack were all named to the All-Tournament Team.

- The four victories in the NACC Tournament set a new program best as a member of the NACC. They recorded four victories in a conference tournament one other time as a member of the LMC (2001).

UP NEXT
With the loss to MSOE, the Eagles concluded their 2025 slate. They recorded 20 or more victories for the fourth-straight season and reached the NACC Tournament Championship. Eight players were named to the All-NACC team, their most in the NACC era and since 2006 (LMC).
