RIVER FOREST, ILL. – Baseball hit the road once more for a NACC doubleheader Saturday. They faced off with the Concordia Chicago Cougars. The Cougars (15-10, 6-4 NACC) got the better of the Eagles (9-12, 5-5 NACC), earning 8-7 and 3-0 victories.
GAME ONE: CONCORDIA CHICAGO 8, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 7
- The Cougars got the jump with a two-run home run to right field in the first. The Eagles responded with a four-run second, taking advantage of Concordia Chicago miscues.
Aidan Kammer battled in a pair with a single up the middle, while a
Hayden Hellenbrand single and a
Jacob Carney groundout tacked on one each.
- The two squads traded blows in the third and fourth innings. After a Cougar single in the third plated a run, Carney singled in one in the fourth. Concordia Chicago replied in kind with an RBI double in the fourth to cut the Edgewood College lead to 5-4.
- While a
Terry Tolliver Jr. RBI single to the shortstop extended the Eagles edge to 6-4 in the top of the fifth, the Cougars kicked off a late rally. A pair of outfield singles plated a run each to even the game, while a sacrifice bunt pushed the hosts ahead 7-6 in the fifth.
- A single through the left side pushed Concordia Chicago ahead 8-6 after seven. A
Dominic Lee double in the eighth cut the deficit to 8-7, but Edgewood College was unable to even the game in the ninth with the tying run on second.
- Kasik hit 4-for-4 with two doubles, two runs, two RBIs, and a home run.

Terry Tolliver Jr. swung 4-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base.
Daniel Bentivegna hit 3-for-5.
- Kammer and Carney each recorded two RBIs.
GAME TWO: CONCORDIA CHICAGO 3, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 0
- The Cougars defense locked down the Eagles, only allowing three runners to go past first in a pitcher's duel. After Concordia Chicago doubled in a run to right center in the first, neither team would plate a run until the sixth.
- Southard shined in the start, pitching five innings with three hits and three strikeouts.
- A single to right field in the sixth added on a pair of runs for the Cougars. Higgins would lock down Edgewood College the rest of the way for the save, allowing one hit and striking out two in four innings pitched.

Drew Lenz pitched well in the loss, allowing three runs in six innings pitched. He struck out four Concordia Chicago batters.

Mark Tor tossed a pair of scoreless innings with two strikeouts in relief.

The Eagles will continue their seven-game road trip with a nonconference stop Tuesday. They'll travel to Beloit, Wis. to take on the Beloit Buccaneers. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
