MONTGOMERY, Ill. – The Edgewood College men's lacrosse team appeared in their first-ever NACC Tournament at Aurora University. The Spartans took home a 22-7 NACC Tournament Quarterfinal victory over the Eagles on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- No. 1 seed Aurora University (12-5) scored six or more goals in three of the quarters on Saturday. The Spartans opened the first quarter with three-straight goals. No. 8 Edgewood College (5-11) responded with back-to-back goals from Brady Hunn and Nick Orosco. The Eagles trailed 3-2, before Aurora posted two goals to take a 5-3 lead. The Spartans led 6-3 after the first 15 minutes.
- It was a quiet second quarter offensively. The Eagles scoring goal coming from Lake Rewey with 9:17 on the clock. The Spartans scored twice before halftime, leading 8-4 at the break.
- The Spartans poured on the goals in the second half, scoring six goals in the third quarter and eight goals in the fourth quarter.
- Edgewood College scored three times in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough to slow down the Spartans.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Orosco scored a hat trick for the Eagles.
- Lake Rewey added two goals and one assist.
- James Borgardt dished out two assists and caused three turnovers.
- Logan Searles collected 16 saves in net for the Eagles.
THE OPPOSITION
- Chris Bucci and Griffin Joas each recorded three goals and an assist.
- Carson Leader, Ben Strub, Owen Spencer, Luke DuPont each scored twice for the Spartans.
- The Spartans assisted on 12-of-22 goals on Saturday.
- Asher Deputy recorded seven saves in net for Aurora.
- Eli Etzler went 17-for-20 at the faceoff.
