FOND DU LAC, WIS. – Men's Volleyball hit the road as they continued conference matches Wednesday. They faced off with the Marian Sabres. The Eagles (4-10, 1-4 NACC) struggled with errors as they fell 3-1 (25-27, 25-17, 25-22, 25-20) to the Sabres (9-8, 3-3).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both squads grappled for position in the first set. Neither team led by more than two points until four Edgewood College errors helped Marian take a 19-15 edge. Three in a row from the Eagles helped the visitors keep pace. While the Sabres sat at set point 24-22, Edgewood College forced extra points and rolled to a 1-0 lead with a 5-1 rally.
- Marian replied by starting off the second frame on a 7-1 burst. They would even the match with high-octane offense, recording 18 kills and a .536 hitting percentage in a 25-17 victory.
- The third set started out as a grinding affair, with the Sabres building up the first substantial lead, a 14-10 edge off the back of a 6-3 stretch. Three blocks in a row from the Eagles punctuated a 5-1 sprint to even the set 15-15. Marian would reclaim momentum late with a 4-1 finisher and earn a 2-1 lead in the match.
- Four straight errors from Edgewood College pushed the Sabres ahead 7-4 early in the fourth. The Eagles would claw back within 15-14, but three unanswered helped Marian keep Edgewood College at bay. A late 4-1 run from the Sabres propelled them ahead 22-17 late as they claimed a 3-1 match victory.
- Marian won the hitting battle .264-to-.132.
- Three Sabres finished with double-digit kills. Derek Willis recorded 18 kills and a .429 hitting percentage on 35 attempts.
- Adrian Calderon tallied a 17-kill, 11-dig double-double.

Carsyn Stringfellow paced the Eagles with 12 kills.

Will Gehrke recorded five and four blocks respectively. Gehrke posted 37 assists on the evening.
