WATERTOWN, WIS. – Men's Volleyball continued to soar Tuesday night as they hit the road for nonconference action. They squared off with the Maranatha Baptist Sabercats. The Eagles (3-6) left little room for doubt as they claimed their second-straight sweep with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-17) victory against the Sabercats (0-9).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Maranatha Baptist hung around early in the first set, Edgewood College took off with a 15-3 barrage to start the match with an emphatic 25-12 victory while not allowing a single kill from their opponent in the opening set.
- Once again, the Eagles found their stride in the middle of set two. Mistakes helped the Sabercats stick around while Edgewood College led 9-7, but a 6-1 sprint broke the frame wide open. Four unanswered featuring three kills later in the set put the set out of reach for Maranatha Baptist as the Eagles held a commanding 2-0 match lead.
- The third set proved to be a similar, dominant, story to the first two. While the Sabercats battled tough early, six unanswered featuring three aces put Edgewood College in the driver's seat ahead 12-5. Maranatha Baptist never found the answer to the relentless Eagle assault as Edgewood College won their second match in a row.

Dazerien Hicks had an impressive night. He earned nine kills on 12 attempts with no errors for a .750 hitting percentage. He also recorded 2 aces and 2 blocks.

Carsyn Stringfellow, and
Josh LaBarbera each posted a pair of aces. The Eagles earned 11 aces as a team.

Bryce Wrobel performed well as the setter, earning 14 assists and four digs.

Gavin Patterson and
Jacob Bruns tallied five digs each.
- Edgewood College outhit the Sabercats .292-to-.000. They had a 33-to-14 advantage in kills and an 11-to-3 edge in aces.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The 11 aces as a team were a season best. Hick's nine kills and two aces were also a season high.
- Stringfellow, Voigt, and LaBarbera's two aces were all their career best.
- Wrobel's 14 assists were a season high for the setter.
UP NEXT
The Eagles return to the Todd Wehr Edgedome Thursday for their final nonconference tune-up before NACC action returns in full. They'll take on the Westminster Blue Jays with first serve scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
