MADISON - Men's Tennis kicked off their 2025 campaign Saturday with a doubleheader against nonconference foes. They battled with the Crown Polars and Dubuque Spartans at the Powless Tennis Center. The Eagles (2-1) started off 2025 on the right foot with a 7-0 sweep of the Polars, before falling in a hard-fought 5-2 defeat against the Spartans (2-2).
MATCH ONE: EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 7, CROWN 0

Jon Olafsson and
Marek Woytasik had a strong showing in no. 2 doubles with a clean 6-0 sweep. The tandem of
Andrew Hoffmann and
Justin Hutchcroft clinched the doubles point in top billing with a 6-1 final.

Taite Thomas and
William Faley excelled in third doubles with a 6-2 victory.
- Olafsson continued to shine in singles with a 6-1, 6-4 showing in top billing. Hutchcroft kept the pressure on in no. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-3 final.
- Hoffmann earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory in third billing. Woytasik tallied a 6-2, 7-5 final in the fourth slot.
- Thomas and Faley finished the match strong for the Eagles. Thomas put together a 6-3, 6-0 performance in no. 5 singles, and Faley a 6-2, 6-3 result in sixth billing.
MATCH TWO: DUBUQUE 5, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 2
- Dubuque struck first in doubles. Hutchcroft and Hoffmann fell 6-3 in top billing, while Faley and Thomas dropped a 6-1 result as the no. 3 pair.
- Olafsson and Woytasik were a highlight of doubles, earning a 6-2 victory in the second slot.
- The Spartans took two points with a 6-3, 6-2 victory versus Olafsson and a 0-6, 6-1, 1-0 (11-9) victory against Hutchcroft. Hoffmann fell in a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6) thriller in the third slot.
- Woytasik continued his strong day with a 6-2, 1-6, 1-0 (10-4) victory in the fourth slot. Thomas followed it up with a 6-4, 7-5 final in fifth billing.
- Faley dropped a 6-1, 6-0 tally in no. 6 singles

Edgewood College will host another pair of nonconference foes next Saturday. They'll battle with Cornell and Simpson at Nielson Tennis Stadium, time to be determined.
