MADISON, WIS. – Women's Tennis wrapped up their fall home slate Saturday at Nielsen Tennis Stadium. They hosted a pair of NACC foes in the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks and the Concordia Chicago Cougars. The Eagles (8-2, 5-1 NACC) split the matches, dropping a 4-3 affair to the Scarlet Hawks (7-1, 7-0) before rallying for a 7-0 sweep of the Cougars (0-12, 0-6).
MATCH ONE: ILLINOIS TECH 4, EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 3
- The Eagles started off on the right foot in doubles.
Evelyn Taylor and
Hattie Plenty teamed up for a 6-0 win in top billing.
- After
Christina Ekkela and
Kaitlyn Narkis conceded a 6-1 final,
Sophia Perret and
Baylee Knott came through for the doubles point with a 7-6 (8-6) victory in the third slot.
- After Taylor fell 6-1, 6-2 in top singles billing, Plenty battled valiantly in the second slot but dropped a 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 final.
- Perret got things back on track with a 6-4, 6-1 final, but the Scarlet Hawks took down Narkis 7-6 (7-2), 6-0 in the fourth slot.
- Ekkela battled in fifth singles to a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 final. Knott lost 7-5, 6-3 in the sixth slot.
MATCH TWO: EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 7, CONCORDIA CHICAGO 0
- Taylor/Plenty paired up once again for a 6-3 win in the top slot. Ekkela/Narkis were a flawless team up in the second slot with a 6-0 final.
- Perret/Knott wrapped up doubles with a 6-1 victory in the third slot.
- Taylor kept rolling in singles with a 6-1, 6-1 final. Plenty was perfect in the second slot with a 6-0, 6-0 win.
- Perret kept the good times rolling with a 6-0, 6-0 tally in the third slot. Narkis wasn't too far behind with a 6-0, 6-1 result in the fourth slot.
- Ekkela and Knott put a bow on the sweep in the fifth and sixth slots respectively. Ekkela claimed a 6-1, 6-1 victory while Knott earned a 6-0, 6-1 win.
UP NEXT
The Eagles will wrap up their NACC and fall schedule on the road next weekend. They'll take on the Lakeland Muskies on Saturday in Howards Grove, Wis. First serve is to be determined.
