DE PERE, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team saw its 2022-23 season come to an end in the NACC Tournament Semifinal against top-seeded St. Norbert College on Thursday night. The Green Knights used three-point shooting and strong defense to lock down the Eagles, 72-47.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (15-12) came out the gate strong, matching the St. Norbert (23-3) attack at every step and adding strong defense. A three-point play by Kallie Norby gave the Eagles an 11-10 lead. St. Norbert scored two layups to end the quarter, taking a 14-11 lead into the second quarter.
- The Eagles best shooting came in the first quarter, scoring 4-of-10 from the floor, 2-of-4 from beyond the arc, and 1-for-1 from the charity stripe.
- St. Norbert saw their defense come together in the second quarter, as they held the Eagles to just nine points. The Green Knights added 19 points of their own and took a 33-20 lead into halftime. St. Norbert started the second quarter with nine unanswered points.
- It was all St. Norbert after the break, as they never gave up their double-digit lead. The Eagles scored in double-digits in the final two quarters, but it wasn't enough to chase down the hot shooting Green Knights.
- Eden Bonser recorded a team-high 18 points of the bench. The junior went 7-of-16 from the floor and 3-of-8 from beyond the arc. Guerrero pulled down 16 rebounds and added two blocks. Paige Banks added 13 points, three rebounds, and two steals.
THE OPPOSITION
- Kaycee Gierczak led the way for the Green Knights with 23 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. Chloe Gruszynski added 11 points. Olivia DeCleene recorded an 11 assist, 10 rebound double-double.
- The top-seeded Green Knights shot 42 percent (29-of-69) from the floor and 47.4 percent (9-of-19) from beyond the arc.
