MADISON – The Edgewood College Eagles men's basketball squad concluded their 2022-23 season at the Todd Wehr Edgedome Saturday afternoon. They hosted Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) foe St. Norbert Green Knights for Senior Day festivities. The Green Knights (17-7, 14-3 NACC) leveraged a big first half advantage to put the Eagles (7-18, 7-10) away 86-66.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two squads exchanged blows early, with St. Norbert starting out ahead 8-2 before Edgewood College answered with a 10-4 rally to tie things up at 13:22. The Green Knights would take over the half from there, a 14-4 bombardment forcing an Eagles timeout at 7:07 down 26-16. St. Norbert would lead by as many as 14 in the end stretch of the first period and headed into the locker room up 37-25.

- Ice cold shooting proved to be a problem for Edgewood College as they shot just 34.62 (9-of-26) from the field in the half. The Green Knights made 51.61 (16-of-31) percent of their shots from the field. St. Norbert was smothering in the paint with a 24-8 gap in points.

- A three-pointer from Adam Baierl would close the Eagles within nine to open the second half, but a 10-2 reply from the Green Knights in just under two minutes of play would give them comfortable cushion at 47-33. Sharp shooting from St. Norbert would blunt any momentum Edgewood College seemed to have in the half. They would lead by as much as 25 points in the half as they cruised to a regular-season concluding victory.

- Points off of turnovers proved to be a big issue for the Eagles in the second frame as the Green Knights nabbed 14 points off of Edgewood College mistakes. Edgewood College shot 44.83 (13-of-29) from the field in the frame, but St. Norbert also shot better with 55.17 (16-of-29) from the field.

- Carter Gebler had an incredible day for the Green Knights with 24 points, including a perfect 5-of-5 from beyond the arc. Michael Payant tallied a 23-point, 11-rebound double-double in the victorious effort.  

- Jake Schroeckenthaler had a strong performance in the loss. He posted 29 points with 10-of-13 shooting from the field and eight rebounds, both team highs. Baierl had 11 points, while Caden Nelson had seven assists and rebounds.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Green Knights lead the all-time series 11-7 since 1988-89 and won both matchups this season by double-digits.

- The game celebrated the accomplishments and careers of Daniel Toennies, Nelson, Baierl, Trent Casper, and Schroeckenthaler as they played their last game as Eagles.

Edgewood College  concluded their season with the loss as they were eliminated from the NACC Tournament with the results from today. The Eagles finish the 2022-23 season with a 7-18 record and a 7-10 record in NACC play.
