STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Edgewood College Eagles men's basketball squad traveled in-state Saturday afternoon for a non-conference affair. They faced off with the UW-Stevens Point Pointers in their second game of the season. The Pointers (2-1) steadily pulled away from the Eagles (0-2) as they claimed a 80-54 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Stevens Point took over midway through the first half. A 16-3 barrage put Edgewood College in a 26-9 hole. A pair of threes helped a 10-0 response by the Eagles, cutting the advantage down to 26-19. Five unanswered at the end of the half sent the Pointers to the locker room up 35-23.
- Edgewood College hung around in the opening phases of the second half but were never able to cut down the lead past double-digits. Stevens Point ground down the Eagles through the middle minutes of the final frame, a 26-9 rally pushing them to a 74-45 lead with 4:39 left.
- The Pointers outscored Edgewood College 12-to-4 in second chance points in the final half.
- Three Eagles tallied double-digit points.
Dawson Hughes led the team with 11 points and six rebounds, while
Trey Traeder finished with 11 points and a pair of steals.

Luke Cervelli stepped up off the bench with 10 points on the afternoon.
- Josiah Butler scored a game-best 20 points. Teammate Malik Abdul-Wahid recorded the lone double-double of the affair with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Cervelli's 10 points was a career best for the sophomore. He shot an impressive five-of-six from the field.

- Edgewood College will battle with another WIAC foe on Tuesday at the Todd Wehr Edgedome. They face the UW-Oshkosh Titans with first tip scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The Titans were ranked no. 25 in the preseason D3hoops.com national poll.
