VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's soccer team earned their final conference victory of the 2023 regular season under the lights at Edgewood College Field at Reddan Park. The Eagles shutout St. Norbert College 2-0 on Wednesday evening. Grace Johnson and Tierney Herman both scored for the Eagles.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- With 32:46 on the clock, the Eagles earned a free kick on the edge of the Green Knight penalty box. Grace Johnson expertly found the top right of the goal, giving Edgewood College (9-7-4, 6-6-1 NACC) a confident 1-0 lead.
- St. Norbert (9-8-3, 7-4-2 NACC) would lead the Eagles seven shots to four at the end of the half, but Johnson's early goal was enough. In addition, the Eagles tough defense wore down the Green Knights attack.
- In the 74th minute, Tierney Herman gave the Eagles the boost they needed, finding the back of the net, assisted by Greta Blau. The Eagles offense took advantage of just the one opportunity in the half to take a 2-0 lead.
- The Eagles defense, backed by Hailey Hartel worked hard to fend off the Green Knights attack. Hartel managed six saves for the Eagles.
