DE PERE, Wis. – The Edgewood College Eagles men's basketball squad headed up north for more Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) action Tuesday evening. They faced the St. Norbert Green Knights for the first of two meetings this season. The Eagles (1-14, 1-7 NACC) prevented the Green Knights (8-7, 5-3) from breaking away but a slow first half coupled with 12 unanswered points in the second continued Edgewood College's losing streak in 74-64 fashion.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- St. Norbert would grab a 11-6 lead off of a 5-0 run at the 15:02 mark. The Green Knights would build their lead to 17-11 in the next five minutes, but a 6-2 rally would help the Eagles close within 19-17 at the 9:00 mark.
- The Green Knights would slowly build up their lead over the Eagles after exchanging threes, a 12-4 run over almost six minutes of play leaving them with the first double-digit lead of the night at 36-26. A late three from
Trey Traeder would send the teams into the locker room with St. Norbert holding a 39-31 advantage.
- Fouls would prove to be a difference in the first half, with the Green Knights holding a 9-2 advantage on made free throws. Edgewood College outshot St. Norbert 48.15 (13-of-27) percent to 43.33 (13-of-30) percent in the frame.
- A pair of quick layups would give the Green Knights a 43-31 lead early in the second half, but the first five minutes would otherwise belong to the Eagles. A 11-2 run put them in striking distance down just 45-42 at 15:22. St. Norbert would score five unanswered points, but a three-pointer by
Cade Ellingson would cut the Green Knights' lead down to 50-49 at 10:14.
- St. Norbert roared to life, rattling off a 12-0 response in just 3:07 of play to take a decisive 62-49 lead with 7:07 left to play. Edgewood College struggled to muster a response, never closing the gap past nine points for the rest of the game.

Jake Schroeckenthaler once again proved to be a centerpiece for the Eagles, netting a 28-point, 13-rebound double-double with a pair of blocks. Traeder scored 11 points and tallied four assists as well.
- Three Green Knights grabbed double-digit points, with Garrett Grzesk and Evan Glaser each scoring 17 points while Michael Payant had six rebounds.
- St. Norbert had the hotter hand in the second half, shooting 44.89 (13-of-29) percent from the floor while Edgewood College shot only 37.93 (11-of-29) percent. The Green Knights also won the second-chance points battle 16-6.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Schroeckenthaler's double-double was his seventh of the season.
- The Eagles have now lost nine in a row on the season.
- The Green Knights now lead the series 10-7 since 1988-89 with each team winning the last matchup on their home court.

Edgewood College takes the weekend off and returns to the floor next Tuesday. They host Aurora at the Todd Wehr Edgedome for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off. The Spartans own the series lead 20-6 since 2006-07 and have won seven in a row in the series.
