WHEATON, Ill. – The Edgewood College women's tennis squad opened their 2022 fall slate Friday evening. They traveled to a non-conference matchup with Wheaton. The Eagles (0-1) fell to the Thunder (1-0) 8-1, with
Christina Ekkela taking home the lone victory for the Eagles.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ekkela took home her first victory as an Eagle in the no. 6 singles slot 6-2, 7-6 over Lily Anne Van Ye.
- The pair of
Jewel Lindwall and
Ellie Murphy fell just short in no. 2 doubles, losing an 8-7 match to Audrey Vick and Lydia Adams.

Cecile Fuchs started out strong against Madeline Gentry in no. 1 singles, but dropped the last two sets to fall 6-1, 1-6, 3-10.

- Edgewood College has not won against the Thunder in a series that started in 2009.
UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will continue their stay in Wheaton with a neutral court matchup against Luther College at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow. The Eagles are 0-3 since 2003 against Luther, last meeting in 2018 in a 5-4 loss.
