TUCSON, Ariz. – Gustavus Adolphus College defeated the Edgewood College Baseball team on its final day of their 2021 spring trip. The Eagles fell by a 11-1 final in eight innings and concluded the trip with a 4-1 record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (6-5) got on the board first, as Joseph Kalafut scored Connor Goodwin on a single to right field. Gustavus Adolphus (4-2) responded quickly, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Two of the Gusties runs came as a result of triples.
- Gustavus Adolphus would go on to score eight unanswered runs through the final seven innings. Two in the second, fourth, sixth, and eighth frames.
- Kalafut was the lone Edgewood College player with multiple hits, going 3-for-4 at the dish with an RBI. Max Hoeser added the Eagles fourth hit in his only at-bat.
- Nick Holland, one of four pitchers for the Eagles, took the loss for the Eagles, working one inning. Leo Stone notched four strikeouts through 2.1 innings of work, while Garrett Redner collected three strikeouts. Christian Johnson got the win for Gustavus Adolphus, allowing just two hits with seven strikeouts through six innings of work.
