Eagles Season Ends in NACC Semifinals

MILWAUKEE – The Edgewood College Women's Basketball team saw its 2021-22 season come to an end in the NACC Tournament Semifinals against top-seeded Wisconsin Lutheran College on Friday night. The Warriors used a late run to eliminate the Eagles, 59-48.

WARRIORS 59, EAGLES 48
- An Eden Bonser 3-point make with 4:34 left in the fourth quarter gave the Eagles (13-13) a 47-45 lead. Unfortunately, the Warriors took over from that point on, closing the game on a 14-1 run for the 59-48 final. Two free throws tied the game for the Warriors and a 3-point play by Jenna Mace gave them a lead they wouldn't relinquish with 1:33 remaining in regulation.

- The game was close throughout as the only double-digit lead was the one the Warriors finished with to close out the win. WLC led 27-25 at the half, but the Eagles took a one-point lead (37-36) into the final quarter.

- Diamond Pikulyk closed an outstanding career with 11 points and eight rebounds to pace the Eagles on Friday. She added two blocked shots on the defensive end. Vivian Guerrero chipped in with 10 points, while Eden Bonser scored eight off the bench.

- Mace led the Warriors with 16 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Kalies Birkholz scored 13 points, 11 of those coming in the first half. Sam Leisemann pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds as the Warriors finished the night with a 42-32 advantage on the boards.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- This marks the second-straight season the Eagles season ended at Wisconsin Lutheran. The two teams have now met three-straight seasons in the NACC Tournament with Wisconsin Lutheran holding a 2-1 edge in the postseason meetings. The home team has won all three tournament games over the past three years.

- The game also marks the end of an outstanding senior class. Pikulyk, Abby Shane, Lexi Walter, Mady Pahl, and Annika Lundgren led the Eagles to three NACC Tournaments, one NACC Tournament title, and one NCAA Tournament appearances among many other outstanding moments over the course of their careers.
