MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Basketball team saw its season-high six-game winning streak snapped by Benedictine University in a battle of Eagles on Tuesday night. The loss means Edgewood College will be the No. 4 seed in the upcoming NACC Tournament, while Benedictine will be the No. 3 seed.
BENEDICTINE 76, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 50
- It was all Benedictine (15-9, 13-4 NACC) from the opening tip as they jumped out to a 5-0 lead and built a 26-10 advantage through one quarter of play. Edgewood College (11-12, 11-5 NACC) turned the ball over seven times in the first quarter and Benedictine took advantage with a 12-0 advantage in points off turnovers through 10 minutes.
- The best stretch for Edgewood College in the game came late in the first half. They trailed 38-15 before
Emma Klein buried three shots from deep to bring the Eagles within 15 at 38-23 with 2:07 left. Benedictine took a 42-27 lead into the break as Klein scored 12 of her game-high 22 points in the first half.
- Edgewood College scored the first basket of the second half but that was as close at things would get as Benedictine rolled to the NACC win.
- Klein finished with 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting and was 4-of-6 from 3-point range.
Lexi Walter was the next highest scorer with six points, while
Vivian Guerrero led the team with eight rebounds.
- Alex Fanning led Benedictine with a double-double, scoring 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting, while adding a game-high 11 rebounds. Fanning did a lot of her damage in the first quarter, scoring 10 points in the opening 10 minutes. Brilan McCory added 14 points, while Claire Gibler chipped in 12. Hanna Piro scored eight points to go along with five assists.
- Edgewood College finished the game shooting 33.3 percent (20-for-60) from the floor, while Benedictine made 48.4 percent (31-for-64). The turnover battle became closer after the first quarter, but Edgewood College did commit 19 for the game compared to 17 for Benedictine.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The No. 3 seed in the NACC Tournament was at stake, which means Benedictine will be third and Edgewood College fourth. The tournament will begin Saturday and both teams will host a first-round game.

- The Edgewood College first round NACC Tournament game will be Saturday at 1 p.m. against Illinois Tech, the No. 13 seed. If Edgewood College wins, it will host a second-round game on Wednesday, February 23 at 7 p.m.
