MADISON, Wis. - Adam Baierl made a free throw with six seconds remaining to help the Edgewood College Men's Basketball team pick up a 61-60 win over MSOE on Saturday evening. Four Eagles scored in double-digits in the fourth straight NACC victory for Edgewood College.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (5-7, 4-1 NACC) staged a comeback on Saturday as they trailed by 10 points with just 6:40 left in the first-half of action. The Eagles reduced the MSOE (5-7, 1-4 NACC) lead to just one with 2:32 remaining before the break, and ultimately took a 35-34 lead into halftime.
- The Eagles went on an 11-0 run to start the second-half, leading the Raiders by nine just six minutes into the period.
- The Raiders quickly answered with an 8-0 run of their own and the two teams went back-and-forth until an 8-3 run by the Eagles, which pushed the Edgewood college lead to 60-53 with 1:31 left to play.
- MSOE would score the next seven points but Baierl stepped up with six seconds left and the game tied at 60. The junior guard buried one free throw and a last second chance by MSOE was off the mark, allowing the Eagles to escape with the 61-60 win.
- Eli Hartjes finished with 20 points and seven rebounds. Jake Schroeckenthaler added a 12-point, 12 rebound double-double.
- Baierl added 14 points, six rebounds, and a career-high three steals in the win. Caden Nelson was the fourth Eagle to score in double-digits with 11 points. Nelson added a career-high six assists and seven steals.
THE OPPOSITION
- Cj Cappuccio, Donovan Carter, and Cade Beekman scored 10 points each for the Raiders. Ty Miklowski added eight rebounds, while Deonte Vanselow pulled down seven rebounds.
