Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Eagles comeback effort falls short, season ends in NACC North Final

MILWAUKEE – The Edgewood College Men's Basketball team came storming back late in the second half of Saturday's NACC Tournament North Division Championship at Wisconsin Lutheran College. The Eagles, which trailed by 20 with 10 minutes left, cut the WLC lead to two 2:39 to play, but couldn't get any closer as the Warriors held on for a 75-65 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The lead was 59-39 with just under 10 minutes left when Edgewood College (10-7) ripped off a 24-6 run, capped off by a Jake Graf 3-point make, which brought them within two points with 2:39 remaining.

- Wisconsin Lutheran (9-3) got the baskets it needed in the clutch, however, to hold off the Eagles comeback effort. Jacob Stoltz scored on the next trip, and two possessions later the Warriors put the game out of reach with a 3-pointer from Alex VanCrete. VanCrete led all players with 22 points.

- The Eagles struggled offensively in the first half and trailed 35-21 at the break as a result. Edgewood College made just 1-of-13 from 3-point range in the opening half and shot just 25.7 percent (9-for-35) from the floor.

- Three Eagle seniors finished in double figures on Saturday, led by Jake Negus and his 16 points. He added six rebounds and four assists. Jake Graf scored all 13 of his points in the second half, helping the Eagles get back into it and Will Schwartz added 11 points.

- Jake Schroeckenthaler concluded his first season with the Eagles with another strong performance. The junior recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

THE OPPOSISTION
- Wisconsin Lutheran was led by VanCrete's double-double as he added 10 rebounds to his 22-point effort. Stoltz added 17, Drew Bernhagen poured in 16, and Grayson Goetz tallied 10 for the Warriors.

- The Warriors will host the NACC Championship game next Saturday against South Division winner Rockford University. The Regents defeated Aurora in the South Final on Saturday, 97-91.
