Eagles beat Spartans, fall to Scarlet Hawks in Saturday split

AURORA, Ill. – The Edgewood College Men's Tennis team picked up a win at Aurora University on Saturday, before dropping a tough match to Illinois Tech. The Eagles picked up their second conference victory of the season with a 6-3 win against the Spartans. The Scarlet Hawks remained undefeated in the NACC, after beating the Eagles 9-0 on Saturday afternoon. 

EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 6, AURORA UNIVERSITY 3
- Edgewood College (4-11, 2-2 NACC) got out to a quick 2-1 lead, with two doubles wins on Saturday. Marius Dornhagen Schradermeier and Sabastion Seeger posted an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while Tommy Ebben and Jackson Venske pulled out an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles

- Momentum continued for Edewood College in singles play, winning four of six matches. The biggest win of the afternoon coming from Ebben who rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles. Dornhagen Schradermeier was also dominant in his No. 1 singles match, picking up a 6-0, 6-2 win.

- In the No. 2 singles slot Seeger picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win over Chris LaPorte, while Venske battled to a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles.

- All three wins for Aurora University (4-6, 3-2 NACC) came by default at No. 3 doubles, No. 5 singles, and No. 6 singles.

ILLINOIS TECH 9, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 0  
- The Scarlet Hawks won both doubles matches, and won the third via default in opening up with a 3-0 lead. The closest matchup came at No. 2 doubles where Venske and Ebben fell 8-3.

- In singles play, Illinois Tech (14-9, 6-0 NACC) picked up four wins and the other two via default to complete the 9-0 sweep. Ebben posted the closest bout for the Eagles at No. 4 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 loss.

- Edgewood College will take on Concordia Chicago on Monday, April 15. Home action for the Eagles is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. at Quann Park.
