MADISON, Wis. – Edgewood College scored first, but unfortunately Dominican University responded with two first-half goals, resulting in a 2-1 setback for the Eagles Saturday at Breese Stevens Field. Garrett Lee scored his team-leading 11th goal for Edgewood College in the close NACC tilt.  

Lee put the Eagles on the board just 6:26 into play Saturday afternoon. Lee sent a pass to Tyler Nelson, who made sure to give it right back to Lee with a perfect pass setting up the early score. Lee now ranks tied for fourth in the NACC with his 11 goals.

Both Dominican goals came in the first half and both were scored via the combination of Jonathan Hernandez and Denis Soldo. Hernandez tallied both goals, his fourth and fifth of the season, off perfect crosses from Soldo. The first, a header in 20th minute, tied the match, and the second, a score in the 32nd minute, put the Stars up.  

Edgewood College did its best to try and even things up in the second half, but Dominican held strong. After being outshot, 12-4, in the opening half, the Eagles ripped off 10 shots after the break, including a few outstanding chances. The final shot count was 15-14 in favor of the Stars.

Carson Hughes finished with three saves for the Eagles while his counterpart, Daniel Dominguez, stopped one shot in gaining the win.

The Eagles will have a quick turnaround as they visit Wisconsin Lutheran College in a crucial NACC match Monday in Milwaukee. Kickoff between Edgewood College and the Warriors is set for 7 p.m.
