MOLINE, Ill. – Facing two of the region's top teams with an inexperienced squad makes for a difficult debut for Edgewood College men's tennis coach Bubba Schultz, but certainly brighter day are ahead. The Eagles, featuring three players playing their collegiate dual matches dropped a pair of 9-0 decisions to Wabash College and Augustana College (Ill.) on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College found a tough competitor in their season opener against Wabash College. The Giants won four singles matches by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
- Evan Stone almost helped Edgewood College avoid the shutout, pushing Wabash's William Reifeis to a match tiebreaker at No. 1 singles before losing 5-7, 6-2, 10-6.
- The Eagles found more success against the host Vikings. Jackson Venske and Sabastion Seeger fell to Augustana's Scott Daluga and Guilherme Calixto 8-5 at No. 2 doubles.
- In singles, Stone fell to Augustana's Peter Alex 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, while Seeger, Marius Dornhagen Schradermeier, and Venske all won two games apiece in their matches.

- Edgewood College will travel to Elmhurst College for a dual match next Saturday. The Eagles and Bluejays will meet at 6:00 p.m. at Courts Plus in Elmhurst, Ill.
